Since the beginning of 2012 she has been Emergency Response Manager for Tearfund. If a senior management position becomes vacant in one of Tearfund’s disaster relief programmes and there is nobody to fill it immediately, it is Clare’s job to jump into the gap and do whatever is needed to keep the operation going until a permanent person is appointed. This is a very demanding job as such situations are usually in conflict zones or areas where there has been some natural catastrophe, bringing all sorts of tensions and other problems in its wake. It is only someone with Clare’s experience and stamina that can take on responsibility of this kind.
