At present she is Deputy Country Director in their Darfur disaster programme in Western Sudan, where thousands of people are living in camps because their villages and crops have been destroyed by civil war. Tearfund is responsible for providing clean water and sanitation in some of the camps in South Darfur, and also in running children’s health programmes and helping people with community development. Clare oversees the programmes in the field and responds to any emergencies that arise. It is a very demanding job.
