The donations given during the Gift Service on Sunday 6th December will be given to the Ley Community this year. ‘This therapeutic community, established in 1971, provides residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation from the point of detox through to aftercare incorporating abstinence, peer support and self-help. Residents successfully complete our recovery programme into full-time employment and move out into independent living, no longer in treatment. We break the cycle of addiction, offending and dependence on welfare benefits’. They’ve asked us if we could provide any gifts that would benefit their residents, for example:
Tins of biscuits (sweet or savoury) or sweets/crisps;
Socks for the men or boxer shorts or briefs for the women;
Prizes for quizzes i.e. photo frame, lip salves, hand cream, crossword or Sudoku books;
Writing sets (i.e. paper/envelopes), diaries, calendars, playing cards;
Soft drinks, for example but anything really apart from alcohol, aerosols, aftershave/perfume (because of the alcohol content).
Thank you—Sarah Ewart
