The official Act of Inauguration of the Church was held on Saturday 4th November 1956 when 16 people who had been baptised as believers stood to repeat the Covenant together and became founder members.
As you come into church today you will receive an envelope for “Gift Day“. It is our custom to give thanks to God for all he has done for us. We do this everyday! But today is special as our church is 58 years old and we give a special financial gift to our chosen charities. This year the gifts are to be divided equally between Soul Survivor and BMS World Mission. Soul Survivor is a charity benefitting young people in the UK and abroad. They provide resources, training and subsidise young people for Soul Survivor events and are also involved in overseas mission. BMS World Mission is a Christian mission organisation that has long-standing relationships with UK Baptist churches. It works in around 35 countries on four continents. BMS personnel are mainly involved in church, development, education, health, justice and leadership ministries. At any one time BMS supports between 350 and 400 personnel – long, medium and short-term workers, teams and volunteers, as well as a large number of supported national partner workers around the world, providing people, funding, training and expertise in the core areas of our work.
