This year our gifts given during this service will go to Asylum Welcome:
“Together, we work to reduce poverty, suffering and social isolation, and to enable asylum seekers and refugees to live with the respect and dignity to which they are entitled.”
The volunteers visit clients to offer a sympathetic ear and a chat and a weekly bag of groceries.
If you’d like to provide some extra luxuries to these weekly bags for Christmas, here are some ideas:
Personal hygiene essentials: toothpaste. toothbrushes, shaving equipment, deodorant, shampoo, soap, shower gel, lavatory paper, sanitary towels.
Dried fruits that we associate with Christmas would go down well with the people from Middle Eastern, Asian and African countries.
Food items: Tins of vegetables, fruit, soups, meat (non-pork); couscous, noodles, lentils; teas, coffee, oil, jam, sugar, honey.
Cash donations are welcome too.
We are unable to provide items for Campsfield House directly, but they would welcome artwork by children to decorate the walls.
