 Mark is Social Action Coordinator for the Brazilian Baptist Convention, which has its offices in Rio. That means he provides training for churches who want to know how to help their local communities, and advises them on designing and setting up projects. Suzana is a nurse by profession but these days, besides assisting Mark, she is responsible for advising churches on after-school clubs for poor children who might otherwise get exploited and drawn into crime, and also for pre-school programmes. With such a large proportion of young people and children in its population, Brazil needs ways to channel their energies into good activities. |
